OSGeo: Providing Quality Software and a Community Network (door Arnulf Christl)
This presentation gives an introduction to the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo, http://www.osgeo.org) a global organization founded in 2006 with the vision to create highest quality open source geospatial software. The Foundation provides infrastructure, a governance framework and secure environment for the sustainable growth of its projects. The next step in the Open Source geospatial evolution will be the broader commercial adoption of Open Source software, technologies and the dissemination of the related know-how, all building on increasingly open access to spatial data.
Arnulf Christl is Spatial Systems Architect for distributed infrastructures using Open Source Software. He is president of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) and member of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Architecture Board. He contributes to the European INSPIRE process through his company metaspatial providing consultancy for international projects. In the ESDIN project he worked as Technical Coordinator for a consortium of 20 European National Mapping and Cadastre Agencies headed by EuroGeographics.
